Cecelia Gatson Grindel PhD, MBA, RN, AOCN, FAAN

Dr. Cecelia Gatson Grindel is co-founder and President of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses. She is also a Professor and Associate Director for Academic Affairs in the Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing at Georgia State University. Dr. Grindel served as an evaluator for AMSN's Nurses Nurturing Nurses Mentorship Program. In addition she participated in a mentorship program implemented at Grady Hospital System in Atlanta. Her area of clinical practice and research is adult health with foci in oncology, HIV/AIDS, and cardiovascular care. Dr. Grindel has worked as a staff nurse, a nurse researcher, and nurse educator. She has held many local, regional, and national leadership positions in nursing. She strongly believes that nurses can make a difference in the workplace, thus enhancing the quality of patient care.
