Dr. Elisa Schmitz has been an associate professor in the school of nursing at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN, for ten years and worked as a pediatric nurse practitioner in ambulatory care for 12 years prior to entering education. She co-led curriculum development for two pre-licensure baccalaureate nursing programs to integrate ambulatory care nursing in theory, lab, simulation, and clinical settings. She served as clinical liaison between healthcare organizations and the school of nursing to establish ambulatory care clinical sites. Dr. Schmitz also co-developed and co-led preceptor orientation workshops for ambulatory care nurses prior to precepting nursing students.
