Jack Schwartz JD, BA

Jack Schwartz is an adjunct professor and senior research associate at the University of Maryland Carey School of Law, teaching health law courses. He previously served as a Maryland Assistant Attorney General for more than 25 years. Earlier in his career, he held a series of senior staff positions at the Federal Trade Commission in Washington. He currently does bioethics consulting and works part-time as a clinical ethicist at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. For the National Institutes of Health, he serves on a research ethics review board. In the past, he was a member of the Maryland State Advisory Council on Quality Care at the End of Life, the Maryland Stem Cell Research Commission, the Johns Hopkins Hospital ethics committee, and the American Bar Association’s Commission on Law and Aging. He served as a senior consultant to the National Bioethics Advisory Commission during the Clinton Administration and as a member of a national advisory committee for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
