T. Hope Collins MPA

Hope Collins is the Director of Interpreter Services at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC.) She served as a facilitator of the Unconscious Bias program at VUMC from 2017-2023. She worked as the Director of Interpretation & Translation Services at the Tennessee Language Center for more than 10 years before coming to Vanderbilt in 2012. She has a TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) Certification from the Tennessee Language Center, holds a master's in public administration from Tennessee State University and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She also worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cape Verde, West Africa as a health educator in water, sanitation, maternal and child health. She is a trained mediator and former President of the TN Association of Professional Interpreters and Translators, where she served in multiple board roles from 2010-2016. Hope is a current board member of Tennessee Justice for Our Neighbors. Hope speaks Cape Verdean Kriolo and English.
