A Whole New "Culture" of Infection Prevention in Ambulatory Care

Infection prevention in the ambulatory setting continues to be a highly significant issue. Infections are not just "hospital acquired," but may be transmitted during a visit without patients or staff even realizing it. This session focuses on addressing the importance of infection prevention, provides tools to help increase staff awareness, and describes specific methods that can be used to decrease the risk of infection.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe history of MRSA and the rise of MRSOs in ambulatory health care settings.
  • Demonstrate how routine medical equipment transmits bacteria.
  • Describe how the analysis of data was used to educate staff on frequency of cleaning medical equipment and proper product to use.
