Members of the AAACN Staff Patient Education SIG present in-depth information about patient education. This presentation focus on how to communicate with staff for a better understanding of how non-adherence affects health outcomes and how to identify barriers, incorporate health literacy into patient education, and use more teach-back techniques. Discussion also includes how and where staff get educational material for patients and the development of staff competencies for patient education. This presentation will have three segments: patient education, competency assessment of staff, and application of patient education techniques.
