Supporting Development of Medicine and Nursing in Afghanistan

During deployments spanning two years in Kabul, Afghanistan, several initiatives to build nursing education and practice were instituted. This presentation provides an overview of the current state of the health care system (medicine and nursing) in Afghanistan and describes the challenges and successes encountered in mentoring Afghan physicians and nurses and building nursing education programs.
