Town Hall - Population Health: Social Determinants of Health, Behavioral Health, and the Opioid Crisis

Ambulatory care nurses are a natural fit to help address the rapid changes in today’s health care landscape. Understanding the many behavioral, economic, social and physical environment factors that impact the health of individuals and communities are emerging as areas for intervention. Solutions are being woven into care coordination programs in all settings to help address the social determinants of health and curb the opioid crisis, with much work to be done. Legislative updates and partnerships across agencies and disciplines are additional strategies. Ambulatory care nurses are uniquely positioned to help lead this work and other key issues that influence healthy outcomes.
