Michael Gates PhD, RN
Michael Gates is an Associate Professor, the Interim Associate Director in the School of Nursing at San Diego State University, and an alumnus of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholar Program. His research interests include the nursing workforce, workplace diversity, staff nurse and nurse leader stress, and the utilization of technology in nursing education. He is particularly interested in the link between staff nurse and nurse leader stress and outcomes of care. He has current work underway that examines nurse labor market behaviors, nurse migration, nursing employment trends, and simulation use in the education setting.
