During the COVID-19 pandemic, the VA’s Fourth Mission was implemented nationally at historic levels. By maximizing the broad resources of the VA, including VHA and other administrations, the safety of both veterans and non-veterans improved. This presentation includes a discussion about the VA’s national approach to risk mitigation during the COVID-19 pandemic; coordination with other federal, state, and local organizations; and examples of how the VA improved safety and access to health care within and beyond the United States through creativity, flexibility, and innovative approaches.
