Dr. Kara Schroeder is a director of patient care practice at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Schroeder is also an instructor at California State University, Institute for Palliative Care, where she teaches advanced practice palliative nursing certification courses. She has 25 years of experience in the nursing field. Of the 25 years, 20 of those have been spent in leadership. She has used her nursing experience in the roles of clinician, consultant, author, teacher, researcher, and leader. Dr. Schroeder’s research and scholarship includes end-of-life care, symptom management, dehumanization, harm avoidance, moral dilemma, end-of-life nursing education, wellness, resiliency staffing workload, models of care, and financial implications of care.
