Peg Mastal PhD, RN

Peg Mastal is originally a nursing diploma school graduate, ultimately achieving bachelors and masters degrees in nursing and a doctorate in public policy. Peg has experience as a hospital nurse in multiple specialties and in nursing administration, as an administrator in outpatient settings and managed care, and as Chief Operating Officer of a Medicaid health plan that coordinated care and life services for children with special needs in the District of Columbia.

She also served as Director of Special Projects with Delmarva Foundation, a quality improvement organization where she collaborated with Medicaid programs to measure and improve quality of care and outcomes for adults with disabilities.

Peg has been an active member of AAACN since 1991, serving the organization as member and Chair of the Research Committee, member of the board of directors, and President 1999-2000. She contributed chapter 3 in the Core Curriculum textbook, chaired the task force that revised the 2007 edition of AAACN's Ambulatory Care Nursing Administration and Practice Standards, and served as the Chair of the Steering Committee for the Scope of Practice and Standards for Professional Ambulatory Care Nursing published in 2010.
