Assessing Workplace Safety by Measuring Assaults on Nursing Personnel

To change culture in reporting and prevention of workplace violence, systematic reporting and targeted improvement efforts must become standard practice. Participation in the assaults on nursing personnel indicator can help facilities assess workplace safety, provide a supportive practice environment where nurses feel their safety is prioritized, and nurture a culture of nursing excellence.

Development of an Ambulatory Falls Committee
Presented by Kathy Day, MSN, RN, OCN; Kimberly Knight, BSN, RN, PCCN and Esther Thatcher, PhD, RN
This session discusses the creation of a multidisciplinary falls committee in a large health system to focus on standardization of preventing falls in ambulatory care and home care settings. The goals of the committee to decrease falls, improve quality measures, and provide patient education throughout the continuum of care is discussed and the results of first-year data is shared.
