Sandy Reifsteck spent 28 years in an ambulatory care in various administrative roles at Carle Clinic, a physician group practice of 350 physicians, with 100 mid-level providers in Central Illinois. Sandy was instrumental in developing the community parish nursing program in Urbana, IL, the largest in the country. She also continues to serve as coordinator of the compassionate care retired nurse volunteer program and has a poster presentation at this year’s conference.
Following an early retirement, she accepted a position as director of development and quality outcomes for the Institute for Healthcare Communication, whose mission is to improve health care through communication skills between clinicians and patients to enhance the patient experience. She is on the faculty conducting workshops on communication for physicians, nurses, and other health care providers across the US and Canada.
