
Sheila Wheeler MS, RN
Sheila Wheeler has pioneered telephone triage as a front-line practitioner, guideline developer, researcher, author, expert witness, and consultant since 1985. In 1993, she authored the first training manual for telephone triage and best-selling classic, Telephone Triage: Theory, Practice and Protocol Development. In 1994, Sheila founded the first national telephone triage conference, and served annually as conference developer, chairperson, and guest speaker for 8 years. She also served as editor-in-chief for the first age-specific, patient-centered, three-volume set of guidelines, Telephone Triage Protocols for Pediatric and Adult Populations. In 2015, Sheila authored Safety of Clinical and Non-clinical Decision Makers in Telephone Triage, published in the Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare.
